We live in a culture where we consume more than we create. Yet, each one of us has been created with unique qualities, attributes and creative gifts that -- if unleashed -- would bring flavor and joy to the world. When I obtained my Doctoral degree as a healthcare professional, though it was a great accomplishment that anyone should be proud of, I couldn’t help but recognize the dissatisfaction I still felt. I thought to myself: this couldn’t possibly be all there is to me. In my state of dissatisfaction, I had various thoughts and ideas of things that I felt would fill the void...should I go start law school now? Do I do business school instead? Or maybe a brand-new specialty in my healthcare field? Of course, the thought of going back to school seemed so daunting to me. Little did I know that even with a Doctor of Nursing Degree, I was only living up to tiny portion of what God has placed in me. I didn’t realize that there was a fashion designer in me. Nor could I imagine a music artist somewhere in there. And being an author was the last thing I would have thought. But guess what…none of it was a surprise to God. He was only waiting for me to quit trying to make sense of my life on my own and surrender fully to Him so that He can bring out all the creative gifts He placed in me. God is a creator. When we come to Him fully surrendered to life with Jesus Christ, we give Him the power of attorney to do whatever He wants to do in us and through us, and His creativity flows through us. And you will be amazed what He can make of you that you don’t even know exists in you. Have you unlocked your creativity? What gifts have you noticed in you that you have not allowed to find expression? Why don’t you ask God today to do whatever He wants to do in you and through you? Ask Him to bring out all that He has deposited in you and let His creativity flow through you as you fully surrender all to him. P.S. I send out this newsletter once weekly to help you step into the extraordinary life in Christ. I invite you to share this Newsletter with the people you know who may be encouraged by NYTA’s message. For those ready to step deeper into trust, surrender, and dependence on God... With love and gratitude, |
You were not created to be ordinary. Step into your extraordinary life with my weekly NYTA Newsletter.
The thin line... I have shared many beautiful realities of the NYTA life—the atypical, extraordinary, purpose-filled life that is our rightful state. This life flows from knowing who we are and whose we are. Knowing is a beautiful place to live, and knowledge is powerful. Knowing God—and knowing who we are in and through Him—produces boldness and confidence. But NYTA confidence has nothing to do with our own ability; it is rooted entirely in His ability. The danger of knowledge, however, is...
Two weeks ago, I introduced you to "I am..." and last week, I shared "He is...". Our “I am…” is based on “He is…” It is dependent on it. This is because our identity is found in Him. If "I am" is dependent on "He is," then it is critical to know that He is, and to know who He is, because it's in knowing Him that you come to know your "I am," and to become the "I am" God created you to be. Knowing is key. You cannot be who you don't know you are. And you cannot know who you are if you don't...
Have you ever wondered how everything that exists came into being? Have you paused to look at creation? Take a moment to look at the everyday beauty around you…the trees, the flowers, sunlight. Picture the beauty of sunrise and the breathtaking sunset that gently creeps up in the later part of the day. One of the things in creation that baffles me is the cloud. I sometimes stare outside my window and just gaze into the sky, watching the clouds form. I can’t help but admire the various shapes...
