The thin line... I have shared many beautiful realities of the NYTA life—the atypical, extraordinary, purpose-filled life that is our rightful state. This life flows from knowing who we are and whose we are. Knowing is a beautiful place to live, and knowledge is powerful. Knowing God—and knowing who we are in and through Him—produces boldness and confidence. But NYTA confidence has nothing to do with our own ability; it is rooted entirely in His ability. The danger of knowledge, however, is that it can puff us up (1 Corinthians 8:1). There is a thin line between confidence and pride. Pride says, “My strength sustains me.” NYTA confidence says, “I know my limitations, but my confidence rests in God’s ability, not mine.” Because of this, a NYTA’s confidence may sometimes be mistaken for pride. You must become comfortable with being misunderstood. You must know and embrace that you are different, unique, and not called to be like everyone else. You must also accept that people will not always agree with you or accept you. It is uncomfortable—but it presents a choice. You can choose comfort and settle for the status quo, risking a life beneath the fullness of your capacity in Christ. Or, you can become comfortable with discomfort. Step outside the box. Live your NYTA life. Become all that God has designed you to be—unapologetically. What will you choose? P.S.
