Have you ever stopped to ask yourself the question – Who am I?

In your answer, do you have your degrees, titles, credentials and qualifications included? Did you talk about your job or career? Did you mention your role within your family structure?

The truth is many of the ways we describe ourselves hold a much lesser value than who we really are.

Getting familiar with the word of God is so critical to accurately describing and understanding ourselves. The most accurate description of who we are is who God says we are.

Here are just a few of my favorite descriptions of who God says we are. I will outline them in an “I am…” format, so you can see yourself through the lens of God’s eye.

• I am the light of the world, a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden.
• I am a Priest and a King unto my God, and I reign on this earth.
• I am a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own special person.
• I am the redeemed of the Lord, sought out, a city not forsaken.
• I am the child of the Most High.

Think of your "I am" statements.

Do the statements above mirror your reality? Anything short of these experiences is substandard to how you have been wired to operate by God, your creator.

Declare your true identity today.

Look in the mirror and speak these “I am” statements over yourself. These are God’s words concerning you and I. This is who God says we are in and through Jesus Christ.
